Digital Humanities Research: Culture, Data, and AI

The course, which is designed for doctoral students in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, introduces the theory and methodologies of research in the digital humanities, particularly the use of artificial intelligence tools. Digital humanities research is a diverse interdisciplinary field that focuses on the study of human culture in the post-digital age. This course will introduce students to a set of diverse practices, research perspectives, and methodologies employed by digital humanists. It will focus on the use of computational tools and methods after the advent of AI, including understanding contemporary AI tools in a critical context.

The idea of the course is to foster critical discussion and reflection on methodological concerns, limitations, and biases within digital humanities and critical AI studies. It will introduce students to the field of digital humanities, including current and past methodological debates. The course topics are approached through lectures, discussions, and demos.
